Cooks Trade Recognition

Cooks Trade Recognition application process has changed effective July 2021.  Please provide your contact details via email carol@foodandbeveragefundsa.com.au and we will advise as soon as the new process is open.

There are only 2 ways to become Trade qualified in this State.  One is through successful completion of an Apprenticeship and the other is through our Trade Recognition process.

To gain your trade qualification and receive a  “Certificate of Recognition as a Cook”  you will need to submit an application to the Cooks Trade Recognition Committee to enable them to assess your skills and experience. Once approved by the Committee your Certificate of Recognition is issued by the State Training Authority, the Training and Skills Commission (TSC).

To apply you must meet one of the following categories:-

  • Minimum of 6 years experience as a cook with no formal qualifications (working at least 20 hours per week)

OR

  • Hold a Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) plus 2 years post certificate experience as a cook (working at least 20 hours per week)

OR

  • Cooks trained by and employed in the Royal Australian Army/Navy & Air Force who have successfully completed the Cooks Grade One Course and who have then completed six years employment in the trade of Army Cook.

OR

  • Hold an overseas qualification as a cook
