2009 PREMIERS FOOD AWARDS
Congratulations to Robern Menz winner of the Food and Beverage Development Fund Workforce Development Award for the 2009 South Australian Premiers Food Awards announced at the magical Awards Dinner on November 6 2009.

Robern Menz acknowledges that its business is as good as its people and works tirelessly to to recruit,train and retrain good people in a competitive labour market.  The business has an open door management style, innovative human resources program and a low staff turnover rate to show for its work.  Robern Menz began in 1908 and today employs over 70 staff manufacturing dried and glace fruit, fruit snacks and chocolate and sugar confectionery.

2008 PREMIERS FOOD AWARDS
Congratulations to BD Farm Paris Creek winner of the Food and Beverage Development Fund Workforce Development Award for the 2008 South Australian Premiers Food Awards announced at the Awards Dinner on November 14 2008.

BD Farm Paris Creek is a bio-dynamic farm producing organic milk, yoghurt, cheese and butter distributed nationally and overseas, and employing around 38 full time employees.  It has a focus on regular training of staff to ensure staff are multi-skilled and up-to-date with current manufacturing and processing practices, as well as encourages employees to seek additional external training wherever possible.

2008 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN TRAINING AWARDS
Congratulations to Bernice Lawton winner of the 2008 Food and Beverage Development Fund Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award announced at the Awards Dinner on September 5 2008. 

Bernice is deeply committed to conservation and has always wanted a career in the field.  She now works with local Kaurna groups to protect significant Aboriginal sites, and believes that inidigenous peoples participation in conservation allows for a connection with the land.  Bernices workplace qualifications include Supervision Skills, Pest Technician Licence, Chainsaw Operations, First Aid and Traffic Zone Controller.  She is confident that the knowledge she has gained through her studies will lead to constructive liaison with clients, so that she can represent her employer at appropriate professional levels.

As winner of the State Training Awards Bernice will represent the State at the National Training Awards being held in Darwin on 20th November 2008.

2007 PREMIERS FOOD AWARDS
Congratulations to AgriExchange winner of the Food and Beverage Development Fund Workforce Development Award for the 2007 South Australian Premiers Food Awards announced at the Awards Dinner on November 16 2007.

2007 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN TRAINING AWARDS
KIRK BETTSCongratulations to Kirk Betts winner of the 2007 Food and Beverage Development Fund Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award announced at the Awards Dinner on August 31 2007.  

Kirk Betts, 48, is employed as a Youth Centre Officer.  As well as a TAFESA Cert IV in Governance, he has completed certificates in OH&S, Land Mangement, Youth Work and is currently studying Front Line Management.  Kirk, who has a passion for issues relating to the local community and the young people of Ceduna and districts, is a role model for young Aborigines.  As Chair of the Ceduna Youth Committee, comprising students from local schools and TAFE, he mentors students in their learning and leadership development and is delighted his career allows him to give something back to the community.  Kirk, the "legend", is well known across Eyre Peninsula for his impressive sporting achievement in football spanning 24 playing seasons.


2007 AUSTRALIAN TRAINING AWARDS
As winner of the State Training Awards Kirk represented the State at the National Training Awards held in Hobart on 8th November 2007.  We are pleased to announce that Kirk was announced Runner Up of the National Award. Congratulations Kirk on a fantastic achievement. 


2007 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN TRAINING AWARDS  (Runner-up)
MARGARET RIGNEY Congratulations also to Margaret-Anne Rigney who is runner-up of the 2007 Food and Beverage Development Fund Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award announced at the Awards Dinner on August 31 2007. 

Margaret Rigney, 20, gained a permanent Admin Support Officer role with Australian Red Cross after completing a traineeship in Cert III in Business Administration.  Gaining confidence and learning more about the broader functions of Red Cross has motivated Margaret's desire to be involved in the Community Services Area focusing on disadvantaged Indigenous youth.  To achieve this, she will improve her Information Technology skills and intends to study a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.  Last year, Margaret was invited by SSABSA to speak to Indigenous students in Years 10 to 12 about her successful completion of SACE and the opportunities that it created, and was awarded NAIDOC Youth of the Year.  This year Margaret was appointed to the Red Cross Reconcilitation Week Project Group.
