August 2011 Support Payment Recipients

Barry Beach

"Beach Organics" provides fresh certified organic vegetables, handmade, sourdough breads and unique, small batch produce sourced from Traditional Food Artisans over the world "helping to keep ancient food traditions alive and well".  Extending his current business activities to include a boutique coffee roasting facility, Barry will be completing Coffee Roasting Techniques training with Wolff Coffee Roasters in Queensland.

Megan de Leeuw

Megan has always loved food especially chocolate and is passionate about working in food production.  She is enrolled in the Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Uni SA and is aiming to work in product development for a SA food company when she graduates.  Her funding will be used for Chocolate training and textbooks.

 

David Hinchliffe

In the process of establishing "Robe Dairy" David has taken the time to develop a clear vision for their dairy and farm shop which will feature cheese, milk and produce straight from the farm.  Davids funding will be used to travel to New Zealand and complete the Cheesemakers Certificate at the New Zealand Cheese School.  It is anticipated that the training will give him the chance to absorb as much theory and practice as he can so that he can convert their beautiful jersey milk into equally beautiful cheese.

Rhiannon Mensforth

Currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Uni SA, Rhiannon intends to follow the food science stream and is particularly interested in the wine industry.  Her funding will be used for a wine making course and the textbooks needed for the remainder of her degree.

 

Andrew Penney

Having recently completed his Certificate III in Meat Safety, Andrew will use his funding to complete Certificate IV Meat Safety.  As the owner operator of South Ozzy Meats Andrew is proud of his achievements to date and strives for continuous improvement to further his skills and broaden his knowledge of the Meat Industry.

 

Rowena Pooley

Rowenas funds will be used for a Cheese making course, textbooks and AIFST membership.  The provision of funds from Food & Beverage Development Fund will allow her to keep her employment to a minimum so she can concentrate on her studies as she completes her Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences.

 

Jarrad Schilling

Recently opening a small coffee roasting company called "Obsession Coffee", Jarrad is very passionate about the industry and keen to learn more.  Obsession Coffee currently has three different varieties available - Rich, Wild and Wicked - and is available from the Mt Barker Farmers Market.  Jarrads funds will be used to travel to Wolff Coffee Roasters in Queensland to complete their Coffee Roasting and Cupping training.

 

Gabrielle Sullivan

Gabi is taking the food sciences stream of the Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Uni SA.  Her funding will be used for textbooks for her University studies.

 

Debra Tritton

Declaring her true passion is in patisserie, particularly cakes and cake decorating, Debra will use her funding to complete various different courses at Planet Cake in Sydney.  She would like to pursue a career in the area of couture cakes making celebration cakes in both traditional and novelty styles.

 

Sarina Waterman

Sarinas desire is to make top quality chocolates from the best ingredients she can source.  Her payment will be used for various courses and a Masterclass at Savour Chocolate and Patisserie School to aid her professional development and enhance the long term goals of her business.

Luke Wooley

Luke is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Uni SA and has a keen interest for the brewing industry.  He would like to be in a position within the food industry where he can create new products.  His funding will be used for textbooks and to complete the Introduction to Malting and Brewing short program at the University of Ballarat.
